English Summary

Vodafone is one of the world’s leading mobile telecommunications companies (employing over 79 000 people around the world to serve 315 million customers). Part of its Corporate Responsibility programme is the family of Foundations – in every country where Vodafone is present, a Vodafone Foundation is established to address local needs with locally managed programmes.

Currently there are 24 Vodafone Foundations and social investment programmes around the world. The Vodafone Foundation is at the centre of the network of global and local social investment programmes. Launched in 2002, it supports the commitment to harness the individual power of country initiatives and maximise our efforts all over the world, to be a responsible global citizen and member of society.

The Vodafone Hungary Foundation was established in 2003 at the initiative of Vodafone Hungary and the Vodafone Group to support local communities. The Hungarian foundation was the first one of the Vodafone charities in the region and the 12th amongst the Vodafone Foundations. The Vodafone Hungary Foundation is an independent charitable organisation registered under Hungarian law. It is directed by a Board of Trustees and supervised by the Supervisory Board.

Our goal

By 2012 Vodafone Hungary Foundation will be recognised as one of the Top3 Corporate Donors by the media, the civil sector, the opinion leaders and the general public.

Our mission and vision

Vodafone Hungary Foundation aims to generate sustainable improvements within Hungarian communities. We believe that the business and the not-for-profit sector could form effective partnerships, and pay special attention to help promoting such cooperations. We work with partners to introduce important innovative programmes and new approaches to benefit those in need. We support people to actively improve their lives and their communities.

Vodafone Hungary has received several prizes for the Foundation’s charitable work. These are all valuable feedbacks as they show how important and beneficial are what we do.

These are:

  • Outstanding Corporate Donor Prize from the Hungarian Donors Forum in 2008 and 2007,
  • Prize for Supporting the Homeless from the Public Foundation for the Homeless in 2007,
  • Corporate Donor of the Year 2005 prize from Nonprofit Information and Education Centre Foundation in 2006.

  • The Vodafone Hungary Foundation has supported almost 220 projects since 2003. The total amount of grant made to charities is over HUF 600 million. The biggest amount was made to charities helping the disabled. In 2008, we spent HUF 101 285 961 on projects.
